About Mid-Autumn Festival by Lynn from Predatex Silk Co.,Ltd.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a harvest festival celebrated by ethnic Chinese people. The festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar with full moon at night, corresponding to late September to early October of the Gregorian calendar with full moon at night.

Mainland China listed the festival as an "intangible cultural heritage" in 2006 and a public holiday in 2008.It is also a public holiday in Taiwan and in Hong Kong.

Due to China's influence, Mid-Autumn Festival is also celebrated in other parts of Asia. Mooncakes have also appeared in western countries as a form of delicacy.
The festival celebrates three fundamental concepts which are closely tied to one another:
Gathering, such as family and friends coming together, or harvesting crops for the festival. It's said the moon is the brightest and roundest on this day which means family reunion. And this is the main reason why people think mid-autumn is important.

Thanksgiving, to give thanks for the harvest, or for harmonious unions
Praying (asking for conceptual or material satisfaction), such as for babies, a spouse, beauty, longevity, or for a good future.

Traditions and myths surrounding the festival are formed around these three concepts, although traditions have changed over time due to changes in technology, science, economy, culture, and religion. It's about well being together.

Herewith we introduce you a very famous Chinese antient poem written 1000years ago but talented poet Sushi!

Thinking of you

Mid-autumn of the Bing Chen year
Having been drinking happily over night
I'm drunk
So I write this poem
Remembering my brother, Zi You

When will the moon be clear and bright?
With a cup of wine in my hand, I ask the clear sky.
In the heavens on this night,
I wonder what season it would be?
I'd like to ride the wind to fly home.
Yet I fear the crystal and jade mansions
are much too high and cold for me.
Dancing with my moonlit shadow,
It does not seem like the human world.

The moon rounds the red mansion,
Stoops to silk-pad doors,
Shines upon the sleepless,
Bearing no grudge,
Why does the moon tend to be full when people are apart?
People experience sorrow, joy, separation and reunion,
The moon may be dim or bright, round or crescent shaped,
This imperfection has been going on since the beginning of time.
May we all be blessed with longevity,
Though thousands of miles apart, we are still able to share the beauty of the moon together.

Silk Fabric -- Silk Dupion(Dupioni)

Silk and Silk Fabrics Suitable for Wedding Dresses

Of all the choices surrounding your dream wedding dress, the most important factor to consider is material. The fabric of your gown determines its volume, structure, and texture, and should complement your skin tone and body type.

Despite the variety of fabrications available to modern brides, few are as simple yet luxurious as silk fabric and silk alternatives. You’re likely the romantic and glamorous type if you’re looking for a silk wedding dress, so keep scrolling for our breakdown of this fabric’s qualities and care, as well as gorgeous alternatives and unique styles.

What Is Silk?
Natural silk is a soft, glossy fabric that has been around for over 6,000 years. Originating in China and kept secret for over two thousand years, this luxurious fabric has traditionally been reserved for wealthy dynasties and aristocratic families. Production of natural silk fabric is a time-consuming process that requires meticulous attention to detail. However, in more recent times, synthetic and blended fabrications have become widely available.

Some Wedding Dress Designer claims silk fabrics are too expensive so they use fake silk(polyesters) instead…  But, is that ture!!??
A wedding dress made from 100% natural silk fabric could both rare and no cheap. But the prices will definitely be worthy as silks would never be simply replace by polyesters or silk blends! Those who claims the polyesters or silk blends being as good would only turn out to be a joke and fraud!

When shopping for a wedding dress, you will likely come across “silk” gowns that are actually polyester satin or charmeuse. These are cheap version and the handfeel/shine is totallt different from silk!!

Our silk satin 19mm(82gsm  mediate weight) is only about USD14/mtr and wedding gowns would cost thousands of dollars. Yet some wedding dress claims silk satin is too expensive to afford to make your dress and use polyester instead. Just because the polyester satin cost USD1.2/M in average!! Sometimes, as a silk fabric manufacturer,
we cannot figure out the reason...  Why not just give our bides the best??

How Do I Care for These Shimmering Silk Fabrics?
Silk satin, and silk faille(crepe de chine) wedding dresses can be spot-cleaned with mild liquid detergent, warm water, and a soft, clean cloth. Some places you could buy silk-suitable soap or cleaser.Just remember to test a soap or cleanser on a hidden area of your silk dress first. For an allover clean, take your silk dress to a professional dry cleaner nearby your resident.

Wedding dresses made with silk satin, or silk faille(crepe de chine) can be ironed on a low setting; just be sure to place a protective cloth between the heated surface and the fabric. You can also de-wrinkle your gown with a steamer appliance, or by hanging the gown in a safe area of your bathroom and allowing steam to build up from a hot shower.

Over time, these expensive fabrications are prone to attack from moths and mildew. Store your silk, satin, or silk faille(crepe de chine) wedding dress in a cotton pillowcase away from artificial and natural light. For top-notch protection, take your gown to a professional gown preservationist.

What is the best silk for a high quality wedding gown? ----by Lynn from Predatex Silk.

Among all the usage of silk fabrics, making high-end wedding gowns has always possessed an important role!!  The most regularly used silks are SatinCharmeuse, Duchess Satin, Dupioni, Faille(Crepe de chine), Chiffon, Taffeta, Organza, Georgette and etc.

Satin Charmeuse is boneless, soft and shiny. Some use media weight satin charmeuse in about 19-22mm, other higher end uses 30mm satin or even 40mm satin!! 40mm has been the heaviest ever in silk satin and of course most expensive& luxurious!! Predatex Silk produce these items regularly and you buy from us in wholesales prices.

Duchess Satin is also very welcomed to make wedding gowns due to its marvelous handfeel and unique drape! Normally 26.5mm is widely used.

Silk Crepe de chine, some places was called silk faille, is widely used in bridal dresses. One reason is that its shine is not that dazzling as satins but more calm and comfortable. Another reason is that it does not easily get creased as the other silks due to its high twisted yarn used. So it is much more durable than the other silks. Some customers would like to have 40mm heavy crepe de chine and some even want the 40mm crepe de chine with elastic!! No problem! You can get all these from www.predatextile.com !!

Of course, many other silks are used by wedding brands such as dupion, chiffon, organza…
We shall try to explain them better next time!
