Silk and Silk Fabrics Suitable for Wedding Dresses

Of all the choices surrounding your dream wedding dress, the most important factor to consider is material. The fabric of your gown determines its volume, structure, and texture, and should complement your skin tone and body type.

Despite the variety of fabrications available to modern brides, few are as simple yet luxurious as silk fabric and silk alternatives. You’re likely the romantic and glamorous type if you’re looking for a silk wedding dress, so keep scrolling for our breakdown of this fabric’s qualities and care, as well as gorgeous alternatives and unique styles.

What Is Silk?
Natural silk is a soft, glossy fabric that has been around for over 6,000 years. Originating in China and kept secret for over two thousand years, this luxurious fabric has traditionally been reserved for wealthy dynasties and aristocratic families. Production of natural silk fabric is a time-consuming process that requires meticulous attention to detail. However, in more recent times, synthetic and blended fabrications have become widely available.

Some Wedding Dress Designer claims silk fabrics are too expensive so they use fake silk(polyesters) instead…  But, is that ture!!??
A wedding dress made from 100% natural silk fabric could both rare and no cheap. But the prices will definitely be worthy as silks would never be simply replace by polyesters or silk blends! Those who claims the polyesters or silk blends being as good would only turn out to be a joke and fraud!

When shopping for a wedding dress, you will likely come across “silk” gowns that are actually polyester satin or charmeuse. These are cheap version and the handfeel/shine is totallt different from silk!!

Our silk satin 19mm(82gsm  mediate weight) is only about USD14/mtr and wedding gowns would cost thousands of dollars. Yet some wedding dress claims silk satin is too expensive to afford to make your dress and use polyester instead. Just because the polyester satin cost USD1.2/M in average!! Sometimes, as a silk fabric manufacturer,
we cannot figure out the reason...  Why not just give our bides the best??

How Do I Care for These Shimmering Silk Fabrics?
Silk satin, and silk faille(crepe de chine) wedding dresses can be spot-cleaned with mild liquid detergent, warm water, and a soft, clean cloth. Some places you could buy silk-suitable soap or cleaser.Just remember to test a soap or cleanser on a hidden area of your silk dress first. For an allover clean, take your silk dress to a professional dry cleaner nearby your resident.

Wedding dresses made with silk satin, or silk faille(crepe de chine) can be ironed on a low setting; just be sure to place a protective cloth between the heated surface and the fabric. You can also de-wrinkle your gown with a steamer appliance, or by hanging the gown in a safe area of your bathroom and allowing steam to build up from a hot shower.

Over time, these expensive fabrications are prone to attack from moths and mildew. Store your silk, satin, or silk faille(crepe de chine) wedding dress in a cotton pillowcase away from artificial and natural light. For top-notch protection, take your gown to a professional gown preservationist.
